A not-for-profit organisation composed of Filipino and British-Filipino volunteers dedicated to promote the uniqueness of the Filipino culture to the British society.
To establish a community of dynamic, proactive and supportive Filipinos, which aims to empower and integrate the Filipino community in the City of Leeds.
We act as an advocate and raise the profile of the Filipino community. Organise cultural, outreach, networking events and provide support to the Filipino in needs.
Sometime in 2007, a handful of Filipinos convened and initiated a plan to organise an association to represent the growing Filipino population in Leeds.
FLA's pioneers launched their first major fund raising event dubbed- Getting Together, Uniting Together! Christmas Party on 24 December 2010. During the event the Filipino Leeds Association was formally introduced in front of more than 300 crowds.
The first set of officers was elected to act as board members and appointed various committees. Filipino Leeds Association (UK) Limited was incorporated in 14 February 2011.
FLA organised its first major event- the Leeds Barrio Fiesta, on 17 June 2012 at Kirkstall Abbey. The successful event inspires subsequent Leeds Barrio Fiesta which is now held annual.
